Basement stuff means cool new tools!
I gotta say that a powder-actuated nailer is one of the coolest toys on earth. :)

The good news is that the new stairs "work" too... top to bottom there is less than 1/32" variance in height (including allowance for the new subfloor) between stairs, including the landing. That part of the project ended up being 1 1/2 days of work.

Now comes the subfloor... lotsa gunpowder being used here! It's vapor-barriered, studded, and being insulated. Hopefully tommorow I can start putting down the tongue&groove plywood.

Oh yeah... the best toys for 4-month old kids are the bright ones.

Grrrr!

Kyle's first Christmas, Daddy's first demolition job!
Daddy has 2 weeks off work, and a full basement renovation on his plate... should be a busy time! I don't really think he'll be "done" until the summer though.

Kyle got all kinds of cool stuff for Christmas (so did Mommy and Daddy though)

We made a big mess though...

Kyle loves his exer-saucer!

Mommy and me on my first Christmas!

And now for some scary images... the basement after the demolition stage is done, but before any re-construction has begun! You should see the junk piles in the back yard! The suspended ceiling, metal framing, drywall, and old stairway are all sitting out back in piles.

$1850 worth of wood... ready to be used. It would have been half that, but we want to put in a subfloor to make it "cozy".

Don't jump!

Where the stairs USED to be...

To be continued... now that we're starting to rebuild instead of destroy! I'm committed to at least finishing the stairs now!
